Information on this site is for general education. It does not replace professional medical advice, diagnosis or emergency care. If anyone is bitten by a snake, go to the nearest hospital immediately or call 1990.

Species profiles and first aid guidance are pending review by qualified experts. Never use this site to decide that a snake is safe to approach or handle.

Rescuer directory

Rescuers are independent volunteers and organisations. They are not employed by Save Snakes Lanka. A verified badge means administrators have checked the rescuer’s identity and experience; it is not a guarantee of availability, response time or outcome.

Use your own judgement before inviting anyone to your home, and report any problem with a listing to us.

Sightings data

The sightings map uses public research records from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) and district boundaries from geoBoundaries. Records show where people looked and reported snakes. They are not a measure of risk.

Acceptable use

Do not submit false applications, harvest rescuers’ contact details for unsolicited messages, or attempt to access administrator areas without permission.

Content and photographs

Photographs are used under open licences and credited on the image credits page. Sample articles are labelled and will be replaced by reviewed content.

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed.
